The “Mattress” Approach or the “Kingdom” Approach?
Stewarding A Church’s Cash Reserves
Churches have countless dollars in cash reserves that have been put “in the mattress” for safekeeping. This mattress relates to the many dollars that are placed with banks earning minimal or no yield, primarily benefiting the pockets of bank shareholders at the expense of churches. Some of these church-owned cash reserves held at banks may also be providing loans to entities that do not align with Christian values. May we all be good stewards of the funds that God has entrusted to His local church.
